The Copper Chef non-stick deep square pan is an interesting pan that is advertised as being a 6 in 1 pan that can basically replace of your other kitchen pans. But how does it stand up to it’s advertised featured?

The box of the Copper Chef Square Pan

First of all I want to mention that there are two options to choose from. One set includes 5 pieces and the other 10 pieces. The first set contains the actual pan, the glass lid, fry basket, steam rack and recipe book. The second option that contains 10 pieces also includes the same items as the first option plus a frying pan and a cutlery set that consists of a slotted spatula, pasta fork, sauce skimmer and stirring spoon all off which are non-stick. And as a further bonus item it also includes a recipe book from Eric Theiss. This second 10 pieces option is really for someone who wants everything they would need for cooking but it’s not that necessary if you already have those bonus items in your kitchen.

Now let’s take a look at how this pan performs in the chicken. You can bake, fry, roast and steam with it but let’s see why that is and how it’s constructed.

Non-Stick Pan Construction

The pan consists of 5 layers similar to the image below:

Copper Chef Deep Square Pan Layers

The first is the double top layer polished ceramic coating with the second layer being the non-stick ceramic coating layer. We will touch upon this non-stick feature in a second. Then if you follow the numbers in the image above the third layer in the aluminum core which provides the thermal conductivity and heat distribution. The fourth layer in the outside high temperature exterior coating while the fifth and last layer in the stainless steel induction base that is there for faster heating along with more heat retention.

Now since I’ve mentioned these layers that make up the pan I want to say what I like and what I don’t like. The non-stick feature of this pan is definitely a plus. It’s branded as “Cerami Tech” a new sort of non-stick technology but as far as I could tell it’s nothing special meaning that it works very well but I don’t see anything different from any other non-stick pan that I’ve had. Or better yet said, any other working non-stick pan that I’ve had, since I did have the odds pan that promised non-stick and was anything but. So you can bake, fry or roast and it will be very easy to clean.

In most case all you’ll need is water. It is also dishwasher safe.

The outer coating also makes is heat resistant up to 850° which means you can also use it in the oven. Now I don’t know how the non-stick coating will last with extended oven use but for the medium term should be more than ok, so no worries there.

Stainless Steel Induction Plate

One more thing I want to touch one is the induction plate. The positive is that you can use the pan on all surfaces, electric, gas, ceramic, induction. Although I have used the pan on both induction and electric some people complain about it not working and conducting hear properly but it might have just been a faulty pan because everything worked fine for me.

But the negative that I’ve noticed is that the edges take longer to heat and cook. I’ve noticed this when making an omelette. So the stainless steel induction plate does not really deliver on the no hot spots promise. You can try this for yourself when you try to cook anything evenly on the entire pan surface.

The Tempered Glass Lid

Copper Chef Deep Square Pan Glass LidThe other plus for this package is the glass lid. It’s made from tempered glass, had a handle and a small hole on one half and the Copper Chef logo on the other half. It’s oven safe up to 500° and fits perfectly with the pan.

The Steam Rack

Copper Chef Deep Square Pan Steam RackOne of the other pieces that comes in the package is the stream rack which is an excellent addition in order to use for steaming since this is a pan with extra deep sides and the tempered glass lid closes everything. The steam rack can also be used as a roast rack or as a trivet in order to take the pan from the oven or stove top to the table.

The Fry Basket

Copper Chef Deep Square Pan Fry BasketAnd last but not least is the fry basket which really makes this package a complete one. It has two level in order to let the excess oil drip over and works perfectly for frying anything from french fries to fried chicken.

Overall this is a good pan to have in your kitchen arsenal. It delivers on about 90% of it’s promises and comes in handy in more ways than one. I recommend it if you can catch it at a discount price. Click here to check best price.
